Today June 23 Mi.Red, the Network of Women Engineers of the COITT-AEGITT, joins the objectives of the Day of Women in Engineering, with the campaign on social networks #Somosingenieras. An initiative of its own to make visible and value the work of technical telecommunication engineers, as well as promote STEM vocations among the youngest.

Spain is the country in Europe with the highest number of female scientists and engineers, 49.3% of the people who work in these fields, according to Eurostat, however, only 25% of the people enrolled in some branch of engineering at universities they are women.

A dozen COITT-AEGITT engineers have participated in the #SomosIngenieras campaign with which our group has positioned itself on social networks on this occasion.

Acoustic Engineering does its bit by participating in this international awareness campaign “to raise the profile of women in engineering and focus attention on the incredible career opportunities available to girls in this exciting industry.”

The purpose of the action is to put a face and a voice to technical telecommunication engineers, helping to eliminate stereotypes and creating references among girls with the ultimate aim of awakening the interest of young women in engineering. All this through a series of short videos to encourage them with motivational messages to learn about the possibilities offered by this type of career, where women are still under-represented.
